What Will You Get Your Feet for the Holidays?
Chances are, you’ve probably already started your holiday shopping. At Goldsmith Podiatry, we want to ask our Manhattan patients how they plan to gift their feet this holiday season. While your feet may not be on the top of your gift list, they certainly deserve a present—especially after all the running around they will enable you to do this season. Below are a few items to consider:
Anti-Fatigue Mat—If you have a standing desk or spend extended periods at the kitchen sink or counter, an anti-fatigue mat may be the perfect gift. Cushiony and comfortable, these mats also have some give which means your feet are constantly making slight movements that help prevent foot pain and fatigue from setting in.
Cushioned Heel Pads—Do you suffer from plantar fasciitis? You can significantly ease heel pain with gel heel pads. Of course, these are not medical treatments. You should always have any foot pain diagnosed and treated by our podiatrist, Dr. Howard Goldsmith, Dr. Rosanna Troia, and Dr. Kristina Ruff.
Foot Roller or Massager—What feels better after a long day on your feet than a massage? While it may not always be convenient to go to a spa to get a foot massage, there is a wide range of products that you can use to do it yourself at home. You'll find relief for sore and tired feet from a low-tech wooden foot roller to an electronic shiatsu foot massager.
Moisturizing Socks—Winter weather means dry skin, and for your feet, this can lead to the painful problem of cracks in the skin of your heels. Moisturizing socks come with gel in the heel and are available as a whole sock or open-toe style. Add an extra moisturizer and double the effect. They are washable and can be worn with shoes or bed at night.
Of course, the very best gift you can give your feet is to schedule a checkup with the podiatrist and get any foot or ankle discomfort evaluated and treated promptly. Contact our Upper West Side office by calling 212-877-1002 to make an appointment.
