Tackle Those “Someday” Tasks

At Goldsmith Podiatry, we hope that our Manhattan patients are following all the necessary precautions to keep their families safe and healthy. As social isolating continues, many patients may have exhausted their list of creative ways to pass this time. If you’re feeling like one more Netflix series or a game of Monopoly will put you over the edge, consider finally getting to some of those projects you’ve put off for a long time.

Here are some ideas:

Organize Family Photos—many people still have boxes of old photos stashed in closets. Today, most of us have tons of digital images on our phones and flash drives. Consider the purpose of those photos and how to preserve the memories that are most important to your family. It is a great activity to involve children. Whether it’s great grandmother’s time, or when they were newborns, children will love seeing and hearing about your family’s journey. There are lots of ways to preserve photos, both digitally and hard copies. Explore options and get those memories together in a way they can be enjoyed by all.

Purge, Purge, Purge—by the time the restrictions on social distancing begin to relax, we’ll have traveled from late winter/early spring to full-blown spring, heading into summer. It’s a normal time of year to switch over your wardrobe, but instead of the usual, hurried job, take this opportunity to clean out your closet. Pack a giveaway box of clothes, shoes, and accessories you don’t wear anymore. Make a list of replacement items you’ll need. As podiatrists, Dr. Howard Goldsmith or Dr. Rosanna Troia would be remiss if we didn’t also urge you to get rid of worn-out shoes. Those with obvious signs of wear—holes, loose stitching, worn down soles, and stretched out heels should be tossed for the health of your feet. Running and walking shoes, even if they look fine, should also be replaced every 300-500 miles.

Reimagine Your Space—is the Winnie the Pooh look in your 8-year-old’s room outdated? Do you need to seriously re-work a home office space? If you’re spending more time in your home, it’s a great time to explore new ideas for making over areas that need updating. Use the internet to find ideas and use real measurements, etc. to plot out your designs in the rooms you want to re-do. Order what you can online and get started.

We want all of our Upper West Side patients to know that our practice is here for you. Should you need to, please contact us at (212) 877-1002.
